Sami Akkary, M.D.
Dr. Akkary received his Medical Degree from Aleppo University School of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University where he was voted Intern of the Year for 1992-1993. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Providence Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Before joining Oakland Gastroenterology Associates, P.C., Dr. Akkary served as a physician with the Syrian Navy and as an attending physician, teaching faculty in Gastroenterology at Grace and Providence Hospitals. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and a member of The American College of Gastroenterology, The American Gastroenterological Association , and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases . Dr. Akkary has written several abstracts and published an article in The Journal of Hepatology. He is married and lives in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
